   I believe that the Nelson Aktin's Museum of Art is by far one the best places in Kansas City. I go here often, not just because it is five minutes away from my apartment or that the admission is free of charge, but because the museum has such a vast collection of art there is a piece for every mood. Usually though, I am feeling early American or European, the occasional modern art mood as well. I stopped here with a friend on Saturday, and mainly stuck to my favorites. Also, the courtyard dining area is by far my new favorite view. 

   I decided to bring my giant mink fur (I believe mink?)  coat out for this day, because the rest of the week is looking to be in the high 40's/50's... I guess Spring is arriving sooner than I had hoped. I also found this pair of low-top Doc Marten's at my favorite thrift store outlet for only a dollar, so I have been wearing them around in the snow this past week. Also this past week was my birthday, for which my mom baked me the richest cupcakes in the world full of cookie dough. They are so filling that I can hardly eat a whole one in one sitting... although I did have two yesterday, but I'm not counting.

   I have a strange, undying, child-like love for the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. I go at least monthly  and I have specific spots in the museum I must visit each time I attend. The sculpture park is my absolute favorite, and I can't help but photograph it every time I decide to explore the museum. My boyfriend and I (of which you don't see being photographed very often by me, he has to be In the "mood" as he explains) spent some of our Sunday afternoon wandering through the modern art section... although I prefer fine art, but I compromised with quickly browsing through it. 

   There is a rooftop park downtown on top of a grocery store I had no idea existed until now. I was rather excited to view the buildings from above in the little park, because I often forget about Kansas City's downtown area. I also tasted chocolates from Christoper Elbow, in flavors I had never tried before. The tiny chocolates were flavors like Rosemary Caramel, Aged Whiskey Maple, and Banana Foster... I could eat those chocolates forever. Next trip there, the drinking chocolate is top on my list.

   Today was possibly one of those rare instances that, even though despite the heat, makes me want summer to continue. The Kauffman Memorial Garden looked as beautiful as ever this Wednesday afternoon, and there were so many English Roses and other favorite flowers of mine to see. I will be sad to see the cold weather come and take them for awhile. The garden was absolutely breath taking today, I did not even notice that sticky and uncomfortably hot feeling in the 95 degree weather. 

   The Nelson Aktin's Museum was quite perfect after roaming through the flowers and fountains. I mostly remained in the European and 18th/19th Century American sections, being inspired by the women in their beautiful gowns and decorative dishware in their collections. My best friend and I talked about how we were born in the wrong century, dreams of being princesses, and the feeling we get when we look at Monet's Water Lilies. Maybe we are not your normal 20/21 year olds.

   This week has almost come to a close, and it's safe to sat things are freeing up a tad bit more after my latest move (I am also completely in love with my new apartment, and will update more on that when I am finished making it a home). Fridays I have an art studies class for elementary school teachers, and today we took a field trip to the Nelson Atkins Museum. I tend to document much of this wonderful place, and that's because I never tire of visiting. 
   The Nelson, like most other museums, offers resources for educators to use inside of their classrooms. If I end up teaching in Kansas City, I am sure I will be in the education building much of the school year. We also toured around the museum  exploring art work for upcoming assignments, and browsed through the reference books in the library. Ah, the excitement of being a future educator was in full force today.
