   Old friends that you reconnect with are the best of friends. The ones, that after all these years, still think of you when they are digging through vintage clothes and decide this dress would be perfect for you. Let me say, I do love the dress I wore today and I do love having connections with people that last throughout years. I have enjoyed much time with friends this week; browsing the Unplaza Art Fair, half price book sales, grilling out, shows at the Riot Room, river walks, and buying deep fried doughnuts from Beignet. I love the company I spend time with. 

   It's the middle of the week, and I'm already counting time until the weekend. I can always tell school and life is on it's tracks when I start planning for weekend things during the week. I suppose that's what people with full-time jobs do as well?! Well, I don't want to think that far ahead yet.

   I still don't believe it's the second month of summer, second week until my summer courses are finished, and second week I have been without smoking (yes, I have recently quit, hooray!) Weeks have been going by rather swiftly, and I'm just alright with that. The one thing I do not want to pass by quickly is all of the little activities around town that are the best in the summer, including First Fridays. Even though this is year around, the summer has the most food trucks, live music, and even more galleries open to the public. 

   Venturing about the area during the First Fridays event makes me miss my old loft, which was right in the heart of the festivities, but I couldn't be happier with my new apartment. I will be posting a mini-home tour here next week, and I am very excited to showcase it to everyone. Organizing a new home brings a special sort-of pleasure to me... and even more after it feels lived-in. Until next time friends.

the first official day of fall is here! i started my favorite time of the year with going to the plaza art fair. they mostly feature artists for out of town, but i spotted a few locals among the mist of white tents covering many blocks. many of the restaurants, located on the plaza, set up booths of different foods they serve (and some even not on the menu) for fast eating while at the fair. there is always a large crowd at this kansas city art fair, it was hard to make my way to the inside of the showing tents! no, i did not purchase any pieces of art (one day, when i graduate, i'll be able to buy art! ah, it was hard with all the pieces i fell in love with today), but i did find some new artists that i sincerely enjoyed gazing at their work.
my favorite collection i found was made by one girl, by lisa norris. she used clothing patterns in her work, it was so creative. iona handcrafted books were so beautiful. the books were leather bound and all the paper was handmade. i also loved the charm school dropout with pieces by aaron and sarah collier (not featured). i love the mixed media, texture, and collages they produced along with the vintage photographs in each piece of work.
