mini trip: columbia, missouri part 2

   Whenever I travel around Missouri, I always find the most interesting and unique stores along the way. You know, the millions of highway billboards with "antique store" or "historical sight", those make me want to stop at each and every exit. My favorite along the way was Nature's Cellar, which had tons of produce they sold from the nearby farmers and many antiques. Central Missouri is quite the spot. 

   My best friend took me to the farmer's market while I was there, which was quite smaller than my local one, but had many things to offer. I enjoyed some fresh iced coffee, blueberries, and potato bread while wandering around. Sometimes, smaller is better too.

   I said hello to Columbia,  Missouri this summer weekend. One of my best friends resides there now for her college days, and I owed her a visit.. and leaving town for a short while sounded nice as well. I love the short trips I take; stop a many times as you please on the way, never spending too much money, and always semi-knowing where you are going (which can also be a good thing not to, but sometimes it is nice). 

   The downtown area in Columbia is so full of little vintage stores, local eateries, and costume shops that I ended up wanting to spend most of one day there exploring... and quite the "college" nightlife. If you live close enough for a couple hour drive, I would suggest a day trip should be in order.

   Saturdays are my days that I always feel the need to be in motion, the one day of the week I get completely all to my own and have the urge to do so much... or just so much of what I enjoy. This morning was full of more "have-to-do" events, and the afternoon was "want-to-do". That is exactly how I like to spend my days. 

   I realized this weekend was the dates that a vintage store, Good Company, was open that I have been wanting to explore for awhile. Their displays were beyond lovely, and I ended up purchasing a little map of Inyo National Forest for a very reasonable price. A friend and I later decided to have a mini-trek through a nearby park and coffee at the cutest place called Hi Hat. I am also heading to an annual West 18th Street Fashion Show this evening, which I am rather looking forward to seeing designers showcase their items from my hometown. All of these little events and places are the reason why I love Kansas City the way I do.

  Happy Easter everyone! Well, if you celebrate it (or just celebrate being with family and lots of bunny/candy/pastel things.. as I do!). I was so glad when the weather was over 60 degrees, I could wear a short-sleeved dress, and could be outside in the sun for lunch. I always have multiple family functions to go to on holidays, and this year my boyfriend and I went to two. This holiday wasn't as rushed to get to one place to the other, it was relaxing and calm. 

   My boyfriend and I celebrated our Easter last night, and today we went to my grandparents and then my parent's home. We had a lunch at my grandparents, then a breakfast for late lunch after. My sister and I are kids at heart, so we hunted for Easter eggs ourselves. I fully believe in never being "too old" for things, I plan to hunt for Easter eggs and baskets/make them for others until I have little ones to hide them for myself! Holidays like this make me wish I already had a classroom of my own to prepare all my fun little ideas for Kindergartners.
