"May your search through nature lead to yourself."

Stay tuned for the second half of exploring on my mini-trip to Lake Clinton.

sowing seeds

Do you remember the last time you gave your time to a community in need? I couldn't either. I have been trying to find volunteer work that I could spend some of my free time contributing to, but it was always the thoughts of "what free time?" or "even a busy schedule ". One of my dear friends had told me about Quindaro Community Gardens, and told me I should make the trip out this Saturday and spend a few hours of my time here. I am ever so glad that I did, the ideals of the organizers reach right out to me and I am excited to learn more about maintaining a large garden.
The feeling of doing labor with your own two hands, not just for yourself, is a feeling I had forgot. I forgot the feeling of "free time that was well spent". We planted cucumbers and kale today, in the newly founded garden space. There are only a very few other vegetables planted so far, because this project has only just begun. More information can be found at their website, if you are a local in the Kansas City area and would like to learn more about this project.

grazing in the grass

Today was the most beautiful day. Those days were you can just go get lost in the rural suburbs with some friends, find an amazing place for eating some snacks picked up earlier, and having to worry about being "too warm" instead of bringing many sweaters. The only downfall was having my camera battery die on the walk past the pond...I suppose I don't need to document everything sometimes.
I have also been on the current search for a new swimsuit. After only finding ones I truly loved that were way out of my price range, I decided to cut up two one-piece swimsuits to make the perfect one. They are under construction right now, but I was wondering if anyone had done this themselves? Any tips for sewing up swimsuits (or possibly just making your own?)

paper forest

Three cheers for leisurely spring weekends! I could honestly not be happier that Friday was today and the stress of my school week is behind me. Time to let that homework and studying go...until Sunday evening (what can I say, I want my weekend!).
It was one of those nice Fridays when I get out of my last class early, get a good latte, relax a bit at a local park, and read books outside to the little girl I nanny. I am starting to take back that I only like weather when I have to be bundled up with sweaters... I love this weather where I can do everything outside without even a jacket. Ah, if all only all Fridays were like this!
