airplane of food

(vegans can have fun too.. Tofutti cookies and cream ice cream sandwich.)

(lunch at KC Smoke Burgers on W 39th Street in the late afternoon.)

(bright "flowers" for craft projects.)

(cardigan: from my mom's closet, blouse/belt/scarf: thrifted, skirt: self-made, tights: target, oxfords: nine west)

I believe Sundays have become my time of lounging, laundry  eating out, and grocery shopping. Almost every Sunday, my boyfriend and head to West 39th Street to go to a local laundry mat (no washer or dryer for us since we moved into our house!) and soundly take our time while roaming the neighborhood shops/dining areas. Sometimes, it is actually quite nice to be "stuck" in an area for a moment and having to explore with the time you are allowed.
I am usually not a frequenter at Whole Foods (I much prefer Trader Joe's to any other grocery store) , but this afternoon we made a stop and browsed around the store. I believe I have been so perceived by Trader Joe's, that I forgot how much "health food" and vegan options actually cost. We just ended up with a few items, some bottled sodas, and a few things from near-by stores. Oh, and of course, vegan ice cream sandwiches.

wayward wind

(a quirky, new top that will be up in my shop, soon!)

 (narrowing down my magazine collection.)

(rainy evening drives home.)

(cardigan: forever 21, blouse/dress/sandals/socks: thrifted, tights: target)

Happy end of the weekend and (almost) beginning of a new week friends! It's safe to say, this weekend has flown by and I am not so ready for the next week to begin, but I am currently onto my last month of school and time will fly. I have been starting to make a few summer plans, so I am feeling a tad better about these last few weeks of school.
This Sunday I started my day at a laundry mat. I ended up walking around W 39th Street while my clothes were washing and explored a few shops, while eating a snowcone. Later, I had a friend model a few new items for my etsy shop, and we explored a little tiny section of the west bottoms. I ended my evening at the Westport Flea Market, with some fries and a beer. Here's to the beginning of a fresh April week!

ocean of green

(eating an early lunch at The Green Room, trying to gather warmth from standing outside.)

(an afternoon snack full of colors thanks to Terra Chips.)

(purchased this little thing today.)

(bands in apartment building basements.)

(coat/dress/collared blouse: thrifted, sweater tights: h&m, boots: payless, flower headband: charming charlies, rings: h&m and vintage from my mom.)

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! I hope each one of you had a lovely Sunday, and hopefully the weather was not as gloomy where you reside as it was in my town today. I am neither Irish nor Catholic,  but I do love celebrating any sort of holiday and dressing in theme, so of course I took this day seriously! With being a future Kindergarten teacher, I feel the need for loving random (or not so random) holidays is a must. Anyways, Kansas City always holds a giant parade that stretches over 10 blocks on Broadway, with lots of food trucks and bars opening bright and early. Needless to say, it sort of becomes a mad house, but the rain and slight hint of snow toned down these masses... or at least me.
After venturing around and viewing the floats, my boyfriend and I shared a light lunch to stay inside the warmth for a bit. Later, we took a trip to an abandon freight store in a suburb, where I bought a Polaroid 300 Instant for extremely cheap and brightened my whole day. We ended our evening at a local house show and watched some friends and out of town bands play in a basement. Those are the best kinds of shows and I am happy to end an evening with discovering new listenings and being in bed at a reasonable time for my first day back to school after break. Whew, a rainy St. Patrick's Day here was made the best of.

international harvester

(my mom's first atempt at "applesauce brownies" to veganize them.)

(passing over the Missouri River Bridge.)

 (me and my granny.)

(jacket/dress/beret: thrifted, tights: target, boots: from mom's closet.)

Yet another of those rainy filled days in Missouri, and how I feel the rain has already fulfilled its time here. I always feel like a slug whom doesn't what to leave its little home. Although, I did travel north of the Missouri River today for a family pre-Easter function at my Uncle's little piece of land. It was actually quite nice and different than my norms (many neighbors, loud noises, city lights). I rather enjoy the country, or at least a little drive outside of the city I call home currently, and it's very peaceful. Sometimes, I can't tell if I would prefer a solitude home on some land, or my normal dwelling in an urban area. Well, I suppose this is why traveling is good.
I was so excited when I saw this jacket hanging on a rack at City Thrift. It was honestly the best find I have found in months. The fit is prefect, the details. Of the bows suits me so well, and the colors are to die for. The jacket is 100 percent silk and made by Adrianna Papell . I am such a clothing nerd, whenever I thrift something I always look up the brand and read at least a little about it.
