me and my arrow

(happy hour for lunch at the Beer Kitchen.)

(a kale salad at Barley's Brewhaus for dinner.)

I went through most of today not realizing it was the first of September. I have to say I've been quite the typical 21 year old this long weekend: staying up until the late morning, spending all of my moments with friends, walking around Midtown in the evening, and drinking more coffee than usual. I even did my makeup in a friend's car the other night on our way to our plans. If that doesn't scream old times, I don't know what else does. Sometimes it's nice to live in the moment, be forgetful, be unprepared, even be up all night and have to be awake in the early morning.
This Sunday was full of food. I almost never eat out, and today all of my meals were. My day comprised of checking happy hours, antiquing for a tiny bit, a little stop at the farmer's market, dinner at a brew pub, and still to possibly be continued. Long weekends were meant for these kinds of things.

all the lilacs in ohio

(using my cinnamon infused sugar in some black tea, with my cutest mug.)

(afternoon latte at Westport Coffee House.)

(burritos from Cancun Fiesta Fresh for lunch.)

Wildflowers are kind of my favorite flowers ever. They are those little details that make even the cold-weather loving souls become in love with summer. I went to a garden area and trail close to my apartment after class and other earns this afternoon, and I can't believe I haven't been all summer. The wood-chip trails were perfectly lined with the tallest and prettiest assortment of wildflowers, the views were so beautiful. Needless to say, I walked out with many bug bites, but even the little annoying ones on my feet were worth it.
I keep seeing pumpkin ale and pumpkin lattes pop up everywhere around the city, but I am forcing myself to wait until September before acting on fall things. I mean, it's still summer for awhile right? Even though I love the autumn flavors, I'm going to stick with my berries and topical items for now... but that doesn't mean I can't dress in brown fall tones.

through the grapevine

(inside Prydes is a pie bakery, but sadly they were not open today when we stopped in.)

I am experiencing summer time at my new apartment, and I couldn't be more joyful about this. The location is so wonderful, and I can finally walk to everywhere I care to again. Yes, I do have the privilege of owning a vehicle, but since living in a more urban area, I always have preferred to travel on foot... a little bit of exercise and always makes the trip a little more special.
I spent most of this afternoon walking about town and visiting a few local places... just because I live so close to them now. Nature's Own is one of my favorite health food stores, which I am so happy it's within a small walk for me to grab the little specialty odds and ends I need. Also, taking my boyfriend to Prydes, the cutest kitchen store, which he had never been to before. I love the week days we spend just roaming our town, they never get old.

blueberry hill

(evening drinks with gin and lots of fruity sweetness, recipe up soon!)

(homemade roasted red pepper pasta for dinner.)

The summer weekends go by so swiftly, one after the next and now so close to July. I heard the fireworks from nearby houses, the smell of bbq's cooking, and the voices from the neighborhood being outside on porches... indicating the warm mist of the season. My house is in boxes and waiting to be moved to the next location. I am a constant mover, and I am okay with that. I actually somewhat enjoy it.
Today is father's day. We enjoyed a huge amount of Mediterranean food at Jerusalem Cafe, and then coffee at Broadway Cafe for a "dessert". My dad is a home-brewer, scone baker, computer engineer, small business owner, motorcycle obsesser, app creator, coffee lover, stain-glass artist.. the list goes on. I look up to him so much for always creating new business ideas and paving your own path. I can't wait to see the new hobbies he comes up with next.
