   Events today had me thinking about the future. The future of a new school that I will be finishing my degree at, the future of my next year and student teaching, and the future idea I've always had about moving when I graduate. I've always imagined Austin, New Orleans, or Portland being my next destination in life.. but after days like today, it's hard for me to think about leaving so soon. I mean, how long will it take me to become a "local" in my new town? How will I be able to discover places like The Longview Ruins here, which took me years to uncover living in Kansas City. But, I suppose that is the whole point of living what you've always known, discovering the unknown. 

  Currently I'm looking forward to a weekend of studying and undecided plans. I am also currently awaiting fall, and to feel that first bit of "crisp" in the air. This might be one of my last falls in Kansas City, and my upcoming "to-do list" will involve many new adventures. Which I need to be making soon, and I love making it for this season.

   Sometimes I draw a blank of what to say here. Summer time and the past few weeks have given me a huge amount of free time, which most I have spent packing and, I suppose, relaxing. During the school year, I never actually have this amount of free time, and since I am only in summer classes this has allowed me to do so. I am person who enjoys a full schedule, so I am quite hoping for a new part-time job to fill some time (and my wallet).

   Today I tried my bet at boba pearls and smoothie combinations. I have tried preparing tapioca pearls in the past, and I still can't seem to make them taste as if I am ordering bubble tea out. I used this recipe here for the pearls, and this recipe here for kale chips (which is my favorite for kale). I am awaiting moving to my new apartment, where we have air conditioning while using a hot oven and a working refrigerator, so I can try my hand at popsicles and fruit pies. I mean, those are summery must haves.

   Friends, today was the exact example of how a spring day should feel. As I am writing this on my front porch, the city air smells of coming rain and I could use a sweater. These evenings are perfect after a sunny day of roaming thrift stores and exploring along the lake. 

   This Saturday was finally a day without all the gloominess of the rain. I went with a friend to the suburbs to do some thrifting and then walking about Longview Lake. I was also excited to be using my new Canon Rebel XSi today for the first time, and I love the way it captures everything. This has really re-opened my love for photography, which I might have plans for in the future dates?! Oh, how many small business ventures I want to do with my life! If only time was on my side.

   Student talk: don't you despise those Saturdays that are spent three quarters of doing homework?! Yes, that is what today was. My morning was packed of readings, online quizzes  and an essay (which will still need to be finished tomorrow). Well, at least it is all almost done. 

   I managed to take a break from my full blown "responsible student time" and went to go to where my friend Sarah is staying to look at all the items she is selling before she heads home. I bought two lovely cross-body bags, a holder for thread and sewing things, and a few other odds and ends. I also tried Yerba Mate, which was quite a bitter tea. All the less, I enjoyed it though, it tasted like a strong Earl Gray to me (they are both attached to it though!).
