pearl in the shell

(dress: h&m vest: thrifted, flats: simply vera by vera wang)

Sometimes I draw a blank of what to say here. Summer time and the past few weeks have given me a huge amount of free time, which most I have spent packing and, I suppose, relaxing. During the school year, I never actually have this amount of free time, and since I am only in summer classes this has allowed me to do so. I am person who enjoys a full schedule, so I am quite hoping for a new part-time job to fill some time (and my wallet).
Today I tried my bet at boba pearls and smoothie combinations. I have tried preparing tapioca pearls in the past, and I still can't seem to make them taste as if I am ordering bubble tea out. I used this recipe here for the pearls, and this recipe here for kale chips (which is my favorite for kale). I am awaiting moving to my new apartment, where we have air conditioning while using a hot oven and a working refrigerator, so I can try my hand at popsicles and fruit pies. I mean, those are summery must haves.

strawberry swing

(lavender bubble tea, first frozen drink of the year, from Lollicup.)

(dress/belt/loafers: thrifted, tights/sock: target)

I haven't had a Sunday in so long that has been warm. Warm even to the point that when we go on walks, my boyfriend comments on the heat. Warm enough that a frozen drink sounds good, strawberries get sticky in the car, and there are no sweaters stuck in my messager bag. The weather even allowed for some outdoor reading and relaxing.
The farmers market was rather full of life today, which is excepted in the warmer months of the year. I miss living within biking distance, it allowed me to go every weekend with hesitation. I was out and about for awhile today, but I suppose my time is spent and I must get back to studying for upcoming finals. That's why o love Sundays though, always enough time for everything.
(Also, if you haven't checked out my "Question & Answer" video from a few weeks ago, feel free to do so here!)

tea for two

(there were bunny statues all around the Plaza today, just in time for Easter.)

(an iced green tea from Panera is perfect for spring-feelin' afternoons.)

(sweater/dress/hat/sandles: thrifted, blouse: forever 21, tights: target, messager bag: from sarah.)

I believe that I am excellent at doing tourist things around my city that I reside in. The whole idea of talking pictures of everything, googling restaurants to go to, and always carrying a large back full of unnecessary items for the day makes me seem "touristy". Or maybe, to the common person, I just seem like an adventurer or wanderer. Welp, either way those things perfectly describe me.
For the whole while the sun was shining, I was up on my feet around town. First, I headed to Zona Rosa for some shopping and a light snack of waffle fries (that counts as Irish food, right? Just over here trying to be festive!) Then off to Westport for some bubble tea from Teadrops, which is the best place to sip on anything in Kansas City. Lastly, I headed to the Plaza to the bookstore and H&M (which is really the only place I shop besides second hand stores, I can't resist their sales!). Ah, I will miss being about to wonder about during the week after my Spring Break comes to an end next week.
Also, I have signed up for Bloglovin' and claimed my blog! If you are interested, you can follow me there too, since Google Reader will be coming to an end in July! Thanks!

cool it down

it is getting cooler outside! yesterday, in hopes of finding amazing and cheap vintage pieces, me and two friends went to the west bottoms. we later realized after we got there the vintage store we wanted to hit that morning was closed for the day! and the flea market wasn't open this Saturday. we eneded up going into a few vintage stores and then going to a thirft store in Westport in the bottom of a church. i picked up a pair of navy loafers and a pair of brown loafers for my boyfriend (both i was charged $1 for!). that afternoon, i met up with my family in Westport. we got some bubble tea from Tea Drops, coffee from Broadway Cafe, and then ate at Ingredient on the Plaza for a late lunch. i had a veggie burger and grilled veggies.
