snowflake ballet

(tights/boots: forever21, everything else is vintage or thrifted)

Snowfall is the best thing about winter, although it does tangle up plans and make your Saturday much different than it was planned to be. I ended up staying around town, took a little drive (after much clearing of ice on my car and carefully walking down my ice-covered back staircase) to the Waldo Flea Market in search of Valentine's Day cards/decorations. There was such an assortment of cards perfect for the holiday, I ended up choosing my favorite and heading home with it.
I decided to wear my newest addition to my nightgown collection, a vintage Dior silk and lace piece, out and about today. When I was in high school, some of my favorite dresses where in fact nightgowns as well, and it's quite funny to me how my personal style is like "an ever-repeating circle" (or so I thought that today). Does that feeling ever come to you? It's quite a wonderful thing being able to use your past wardrobe choices for current influence. I hope to be able to look back at how I dressed now for future clothing choices.

before the dive

(baked some vegan coconut bars today, recipe will be up shortly.)

 (what's in my bag today.)

I'm welcoming back my good friend, summer break. I'm welcoming back no more endless nights of cramming for tests, early morning drives to school, educational psychology research, and history extended essays... this is until I start my summer classes. But, it will honestly still be a major break for me, even though I will be nannying a lot more this summer and still be doing college work.
Life for the next few months will be much more relaxing. I relaxed today by doing some antiquing and grabbing a latte with a friend before work. My boyfriend and I plan on taking a camping trip this weekend, which is rescheduled from the cold (which it no longer is close to that here!) and is a well-needed escape  I still have many events that are college-related this summer to attend to though, mainly a giant teaching exam that will be needed before I enter my new school I am transferring to. Yes, so it seems "summer break" is kind of non-existent for me, but I can still utilize these few weeks before college is the number one again.

busy being busy

(baked some peanut butter rice krispie treats to help me get through some tests this week.)

(coat/skirt: thrifted, sweater/boots: from my mom's closet, tights: target, belt: h&m

Cloudy days have been constant here in Kansas City lately. I have been cycling through my boots and few pairs of water-resistant shoes, but I just want to wear my dainty flats rain clouds! Life has been in a cloud too; as usual I have overwhelmed my schedule with school and that is been almost all of my time spent lately.
As the busyness of college keeps me occupied, I feel like I haven't been connecting with my readers as much and I want to try my best to do and keep up with it as much as possible! You'll just have to bear with me while I have made an extremely demanding schedule for myself. With talking about my blog, I have recently been asked to demonstrate a "DIY" on a local television station next week... yes, I'm going to be on TV! If anyone has any advice to give on speaking in front of the camera, I would be forever grateful! I tend to giggle quite a bit when public speaking.

wonderlust king

(more readings for spring break, from my school's library.)

(coat: give n' get, sweater: forever 21, dress: thrifted, tights & socks: target, hat: from clothing swap, shoes: h&m)

I am currently getting in preparation for unscheduled time and not being crammed with an Educational Psychology or Ecology text book in my face. Yes, today is the start of my break, and I am so ready for an actual full night of sleep. I have felt like, these past few weeks, my evenings after school and nannying have only consisted of homework, readings, updating my blog, more homework, then rest. I am extremely ecstatic to have some "me" time (well, blogging is "me" time, but I suppose reading and other things come to mind).

I also realized I never really write in detail about my outfits. This is semi-strange because I like to think I have a mostly personal style blog. The coat I am wearing is an odd thing; people either adore it or they think it is an ugly thing. In all honesty,  I really don't know what I think either! I just think it is the most interesting piece, which is why I wore it today figuring it would be the last time until fall. It was free (yes, completely free!) from a place called the "give n' get. It is sort of like a "swap" where you can drop things off and take items. I wish there were more places like this (it is now closed). I proceeded to wash this multiple time to make sure it was clean, which made coat smaller and less fluffy. But, this will forever be one of my most interesting pieces of clothing.
