made at home: yarn pom-pom headband (& better kc segment)

Yarn Pom-Pom Headband

• Fluffy yarn
• 3 inch piece of cardboard
• scissors 
• a thick-width headband 

   To make the pom-poms, start by cutting a piece of cardboard into about a 3 inch wide piece long enough for you to hold while wrapping the yarn. Begin wrapping the yarn around the 3 inch side of the cardboard piece, and stop when the wrapped yarn is thick to your desired size. Pull off the wrapped yarn carefully all together, and then cut about a 6 inch piece of yard to place under the group of wrapped yarn. Tie a knot around the yarn, then cut around the outside of the tied yarn bundle. Fluff the pom-pom, cut the pieces of yarn to an even size except the yarn used to tie the knot. 

   Take the headband, then use the two longer pieces of yarn to tie the pom-pom onto the headband. Repeat making/tying pom-poms until the headband is full to the desired amount.

Although being in front of a camera is quite nerve-racking for me, I decided to accept their invitation again to share a little diy with the viewers.    Although my very summery causal lazyish outfit points out, it is officially now the season of summer. The heat and the warmth of the time of the year has already paved its way, but the longest day of the year has just passed and we are at the start of a new time this year. I have been lacking in my sense of monthly columns and normal updates, which is heading for a change once I get settled into my new home. These times can be busy! 

  I attended my first official event at the Kansas City blogger up meet group, which was rather neat to see how many other bloggers there are in my town. I had no idea, and it was great to exchange cards and meet new faces. I am curious, do you go to any local blogger meet ups in your hometown? Or meet any bloggers near you? It has been something I had wanted to do for awhile now, I love finding fresh faces with common interests as mine.

   I believe there is a lot to be said about a person who can manage a busy schedule  I always admire those people; the ones whom always keep a calm presents about the day and yet, seem to always find time for themselves. My first week of this semester has shown me how much of schedule I will have to have in order to succeed. My planner is like my child and I have been planning constant of my school days/evenings. I am becoming more of a Type A personality everyday.

   I am having a four day weekend starting tomorrow, which I am more than thankful for. It will be filled of seeing friends I have been too busy to connect with, having my family over for dinner, cleaning my old loft, doing homework, and adding more items to my shop. I think every student needs a shortened week at the beginning of the semester.

   If you are a reader of my blog, you know how much I cherish Sundays. Brad (my boyfriend) and I usually have this day to ourselves (going out for a late breakfast, watch films, cook a wonderful meal, etc), but today was a major "to-do" Sunday! My goal was to get everything completed on the house before I start school this week, which the goal was nearly reached. With all the big things knocked out of the day, I should have a stress-free start to my Spring semester of courses. 
   As readers can probably see, I dressed overly comfy and causal day. We did a lot of cleaning today, so none of my prized vintage dresses would have dared to be seen on me this day! Brad is always wearing denim jackets, lots of black, and sometimes the add on of black gloves.. so this outfit was sort of a "we are working together today, so I'm going to dress like you.. but with a twist of me" look. Yes, I am silly and Brad always laughs (which I know he loves it).

   even after just two days of not having a normal class schedule  i keep messing up which day it is. all of these changes are confusing me! i am becoming an avid planner; this i can tell due to my lack of daily scheduling like before. although i love breaks from school, it always seems old to me not having a full daily schedule written down in my planner. 

   after completing two of my six finals today, i took a relaxing break from all of the studying and essays that come at the end of the semester. i went thrift store shopping at a salvation army near my loft, and found a few items for my boyfriend's socking and a few other people on my list. i honestly do not see the problem with shopping second-hand for christmas. this just means you can get more for you money, and fix up the items for the gift giving! readers, what are your opinions on this?
