in tall buildings

(dress: jcp, tote: Two Tickets, everything else is either vintage or thrifted)

This is the last official day of the summer season. I usually say "it's crazy how fast time passes by", but I honesty felt this summer was here for an extended amount of time. So many eventful experiences happened this past season; moving into our new apartment, finally sticking to a college to complete at, completing tests for school, exploring so many new places... it has been a hectic, but good season overall.
Today was an adventurous, but studious day for me. The morning I was completing an education major test, then the afternoon I was out and about the town. Going to Re-Run's Vintage Warehouse and Lucky Dog Vintage, exploring new parts of the West Bottoms, sipping on homemade soda at Little Freshie in the Westside, and browsing through the Utilitarian Workshop makes for a filled mid-day into nightfall adventure. I'd call that well-done weekend day.

a vintage affair

as nancy drew, in the movie, once said "i like old fashion things". this is a quote that i live by. even though nancy drew is a fictional character, she is my inspiration for fashion and for lifestyle. i sent my saturday morning and afternoon exploring the west bottom vintage stores and thistle. the west bottoms, on saturdays only, have such a selection of stores and flea markets, open to the public. ranging from clothes to interior decor, these stores along the west bottoms will make anyone's day. there are many abandon buildings and factories, which many photographs choose to do photo-shoots in these alley ways. i actually had my senior pictures done here too by my mother! there is usually a cupcake/coffee food truck that locates themselves here during saturdays, but i did not see it here this one. the west bottoms is a wonderful place to do some vintage shopping, photo taking, and exploring near the abandon buildings/alley ways. be careful though, i'm not sure if this is legal!
the last stop on my vintage hunting today was thistle. this cute, very well-designed vintage gallery/re-purposing studio is located in the crossroads district in kansas city. luckily  it is within walking distance of my loft! owner, marni carlson, decorates the place so wonderfully and everyone leaves here with inspirations for their own vintage fixer-uppers. there are so many finds ranging from the 1920's to the 1970's and feature local artists from the area. my purchases today were a map of the united states, a towel rack, a pink flower bed, and little hand-made paper flowers. their items are so reasonably priced, everyone can be able to purchase lovely items from this store. check out the website/gallery here

readers, what is your favorite vintage store/gallery from your town?
