symphony in blue

(lattes in the morning from One More Cup in Waldo.)

(everything worn here is either vintage or thrifted)

Do you ever have those days where the sky is just the perfect shade of bright blue? Where all you want to do is be outside in it's presence  walk around a small neighborhood in your hometown, and try to find all the bakeries that keep open doors on Sundays... yes, it was one of those days yesterday. Although it was another Sunday with the dreaded voice mail of the apple orchard "the fields are too muddy for picking today", my boyfriend and I tried to make up some last minute fall afternoon plans. Whenever this happens, we normally just end up roaming some neighborhood, grabbing coffee, making a delicious lunch (well, he cooks), and browsing through a flea market of some kind. Which, all of those things, are perfectly fine by me.
I'm currently on my couch with copious amounts of papers and school books surrounding me, listening to Peggy Lee, and drinking sun tea. Frantically trying to finish up my homework before driving out to Lawrence  Kansas to see a band I've enjoyed since high school. After the constant stress of college life, I'm glad Peggy can tell me "It's a Good Day" with her song. Oh, and I have a handful of fortune cookies my boyfriend brought me... which I am overall excited about opening to find my many fortunes.

sparrow and the wolf

(skirt/top: re-run's, everything else is either vintage or thrifted)

The thunderstorms throughout the day didn't do any justice to this Saturday, in fact it was not gloomy at all. The only some-what depressing part of the day was that my favorite vintage warehouse had it's final opening day, which was bittersweet with giant sale they shared with the public. I was literally swamped in many dresses, skirts, and giant collars that I believe I gained almost another closet out of.... without spending over ten dollars.
I am currently house sitting for the weekend, which I've come to love these times. Consuming pickles from their fridge, making friend's with the wiener dog LuLu, and drinking pumpkin ale has been my last two days. After the rain today, everything felt just like it should this season... and should look as well. I can't believe how bright the leaves are the ground are.

your rocky spine

(everything worn here is either vintage or thrifted)

Old friends that you reconnect with are the best of friends. The ones, that after all these years, still think of you when they are digging through vintage clothes and decide this dress would be perfect for you. Let me say, I do love the dress I wore today and I do love having connections with people that last throughout years. I have enjoyed much time with friends this week; browsing the Unplaza Art Fair, half price book sales, grilling out, shows at the Riot Room, river walks, and buying deep fried doughnuts from Beignet. I love the company I spend time with.
It's the middle of the week, and I'm already counting time until the weekend. I can always tell school and life is on it's tracks when I start planning for weekend things during the week. I suppose that's what people with full-time jobs do as well?! Well, I don't want to think that far ahead yet.

forever autumn

"Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the Fall."- F. Scott Fitzgerald.

I can't gather up enough excitement to express how much I am completely in love with Autumn. The season is perfection in my eyes. All of my friends have always joked about my overly joyfulness when this time arrives, but going overboard for the fall is what I do best. Sweaters, warm mulled cider, bonfires, leaves crunching beneath your boots, nature-inspired colors everywhere, smells of pumpkin goodies in the air... nothing beats these months.
I always make to-do lists for each season  and fall is my favorite for doing so. I am hoping to complete these all, and I always strive to do so. Readers, what's on your Autumn to-do list?!

in tall buildings

(dress: jcp, tote: Two Tickets, everything else is either vintage or thrifted)

This is the last official day of the summer season. I usually say "it's crazy how fast time passes by", but I honesty felt this summer was here for an extended amount of time. So many eventful experiences happened this past season; moving into our new apartment, finally sticking to a college to complete at, completing tests for school, exploring so many new places... it has been a hectic, but good season overall.
Today was an adventurous, but studious day for me. The morning I was completing an education major test, then the afternoon I was out and about the town. Going to Re-Run's Vintage Warehouse and Lucky Dog Vintage, exploring new parts of the West Bottoms, sipping on homemade soda at Little Freshie in the Westside, and browsing through the Utilitarian Workshop makes for a filled mid-day into nightfall adventure. I'd call that well-done weekend day.
