sowing seeds

(sweater: forever 21, collared-top/pants: thrifted, tank: american apparel, boots: payless

Do you remember the last time you gave your time to a community in need? I couldn't either. I have been trying to find volunteer work that I could spend some of my free time contributing to, but it was always the thoughts of "what free time?" or "even a busy schedule ". One of my dear friends had told me about Quindaro Community Gardens, and told me I should make the trip out this Saturday and spend a few hours of my time here. I am ever so glad that I did, the ideals of the organizers reach right out to me and I am excited to learn more about maintaining a large garden.
The feeling of doing labor with your own two hands, not just for yourself, is a feeling I had forgot. I forgot the feeling of "free time that was well spent". We planted cucumbers and kale today, in the newly founded garden space. There are only a very few other vegetables planted so far, because this project has only just begun. More information can be found at their website, if you are a local in the Kansas City area and would like to learn more about this project.

  8. This is so great! I have here in Ohio a community garden right behind my flat but as I will not stay here much longer it is not worth planting anything. In Germany I will then have to plant on my windowsill again.

    Happy Sunday!

  9. Hooray for community gardens!!! I just purchased a plot at one myself and can't wait to get my hands dirty in it. It's such a rewarding feeling to give back to the community and earth for that matter. Super cute photos! Even doing gardening you look as adorable as always!
