made at home: grapefruit lemonade (with a hint of vanilla)

Grapefruit Lemonade (with a hint of vanilla) 

• 2 grapefruits freshly squeezed
• 4 lemons freshly squeezed
• 1 cup of vanilla simple syrup* (original simple syrup can be substituted as well here) 
• 3 cups of cold water

   Juice all of the fruits into separate cups, then strain for any pieces of fruit or seeds. Combine, into a medium-sized pitcher, the juice of the fruits and the vanilla simple syrup. Then add the cold water and stir until combined together. Serve over ice and refrigerate. 

*Bring 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water into a boil on the stove top. Split the vanilla bean (only one or two will be needed for a slight vanilla taste) into halves and place in the mixture. Let the mixture cool until room temperature and place into the fridge for at least 5 hours. 

   Alright friends, I promise this is my last lemonade recipe for this summer (I have had quite a few, haven't I?! here and here.), but I couldn't help but to share this favorite combination I gathered up. The thought of flavoring my simple syrup with vanilla, adding grapefruit to the mixture, and creating a sweet and tart summer drink was a thought that I was not sure how it would turn out. This drink is the perfect amount those two factors and I couldn't be happier with wrapping up my lemonade series with this recipe.
