in a silent way

(grabbing things from Main Street Coffee House.)

(skirt: urban outfiters, everything else is either vintage or thrifted)

I love exploring. I love not leaving the metro-area and still finding new faces. I love the feel of driving down a road in the suburbs I've never been on. I love taking a small amount of time during an essay-filled day to do so. Because you always get that paper finished on time still, sometimes forcing yourself to only have an allowed time is good. I feel these breaks are most important on this kind of day. Well, this kind of life (the college student life that is).
The town of Independence has always been a favorite of mine. Antique stores galore, creepy back roads, the Truman Library, and the old town feel of the square. For some reason, I love how empty the streets become on weekday late afternoons. Living in the city, there is hardly any of that. Although Kansas City isn't the largest place on the map, I still thrive for that feel of silence in the air once and awhile.

  1. You're so lucky you get to explore all these places! I live vicariously through your pictures LOL. I am sure there are cute little places here in Texas but it's just so hot to do anything outside.

PLEASE tell me those shoes aren't thrifted, so you can tell me where you got them. I have been looking for some like those for FOREVER. I even got the courage to ask a random girl at the movies and she said "I forgot." :(

  7. That town looks really nice. I always love seeing camera kits/accessories in window displays. I have to agree that an escape from day to day life is always beneficial - even if it's somewhere really close to home.

Is that your cat? She/he is beautiful!

  15. I love all of these perfectly composed photos. And you said it all perfectly. That's how I felt about my college down - I'd always take a break just to walk and adventure until my feet hurt (then it was essay time). Being able to explore is really such a wonderful thing.
