thousand miles away

(a section in a local thrifting spot.)

(top: forever 21, oxfords: nine west, everything else is either vintage or thrifted)

Events today had me thinking about the future. The future of a new school that I will be finishing my degree at, the future of my next year and student teaching, and the future idea I've always had about moving when I graduate. I've always imagined Austin, New Orleans, or Portland being my next destination in life.. but after days like today, it's hard for me to think about leaving so soon. I mean, how long will it take me to become a "local" in my new town? How will I be able to discover places like The Longview Ruins here, which took me years to uncover living in Kansas City. But, I suppose that is the whole point of living what you've always known, discovering the unknown.

Currently I'm looking forward to a weekend of studying and undecided plans. I am also currently awaiting fall, and to feel that first bit of "crisp" in the air. This might be one of my last falls in Kansas City, and my upcoming "to-do list" will involve many new adventures. Which I need to be making soon, and I love making it for this season.

  1. My biggest love of travel comes from discovering little gems like that one in your hometown. Unfortunately Australia just ain't old enough to have ruins like that so I'm always yearning for uncovering forgotten architectural marvels. Good luck in your new school and town and I hope you find some really awesome places to share with those of us who can't!

  2. i think you can discover new gems, like the one you have here easily in other towns/cities/countries, and there is something nice about finding new places and discovering them. I love the ruins in your pics, very lovely bit of urban decay. cute outfit too

  7. I really really love that place, Lindsey! How beautiful!
I cam imagine how tense you must be about your future away from Kansas City - but I'm sure you're going to love it - new school and everything! Besides, you still have this semester to enjoy this town that you love so much! :-)

  8. Those ruins look like such a cool place to go and ease your mind. And I totally know how you feel. I've wanted to move for a while but I've just been starting to discover all of these cool places in my current city and have my dream apartment so that makes it hard to detach myself from life here. Good luck to you :)
