giants of steam

(having a late dinner at Pigwich food truck, a falafal sandwich with homemade chips.)

(everything worn here is either thrifted or vintage)

I have been changing my Sundays up quite a bit lately from my usual traditions. I started a new childcare position that requires me to work early mornings, into the early afternoon, each Sunday. This has pushed my farmer's market and river market wanderings to a stopping point, but this day is always meant to be enjoyed and consumed with new events... which leads me to my Sunday of many new discoveries.
Everyone who is a reader of my blog knows how much I love the thrill of a good exploring day in my hometown. I mean, I can't believe how many new things I get to experience and how many places I haven't been somewhere I have lived most of my life. I explored the east bottoms today and fell in love with the fast industrial areas and wildflowers galore. I also grabbed my favorite snow-cone from a place near my apartment and received some fresh veggies. I could go on and on, but I hope everyone else enjoyed and explored this day.

amarillo sky

(browsed through Annie's selection of children's clothing in the W 39th St. area.)

(flower headband: charming charlies, everything else is either thrifted or vintage)

I love those moments, in the summer months, after the little rain falls disappear and you are left with cooler breezes and reminders of different seasons. My balcony is extra inviting today because of this and I'm glad to say it is the middle of July  I can't wait for that feeling to stay.

This Saturday was full of little things... baby things. A long term friend of mine's baby shower was today, and I had so much fun thrifting for clothing to give her. I even wanted to purchase some of the items I saw for when I decide to have a child of my own... but that is a while down the road! Until then, I will have to buy them for others and not be that "just over 20 year old who has a baby clothing box" (I laughed a lot while typing this).

inspirational abode: my apartment tour

(rooms featured: bedroom, living room, dining area, kitchen, one of my two closets, balcony  total square feet: 1,100. neighborhood: Midtown, Kansas City MO.)

I felt, for a first post for this new column, I would share bits and pieces of my new apartment. After two weeks of my move in date, my apartment is looking like home. Although much will probably change within the upcoming months, as do many new homes (buying specific items needed, extra), I am happy to share some details of my space with you. The overwhelming idea of my adobe is "thrifty". I can tell you that all my pieces of furniture, nick nacks, and wall decor have been given, thrifted, diyed, or found in the free section on craigslist  We don't have the expenses to furnish our home with new items, nor is that our lifestyle... and I couldn't ever see it any other way. I like simple things, and my home shows that.

"Inspirational Abode" is a new monthly column for Hello, Mr. Rabbit, starting in August.  Do you have a home that you want to share with others? Do you feel your space is inspiring? Send me an email at hellomrrabbitblog@gmail.com with a few photographs and a little bit about your abode. I cannot wait to be inspired be your personal habitat and have them inspire others.

three little tulips

(everything worn here is vintage or thrifted)

You can tell things are starting to become my normal schedule again when I purchase a new planner. My life as of lately has been up in the air and unorganized, not necessarily bad, just unlike the usual weeks of my time. This summer I have not been as booked-up to the rim as my normal days consisted of, and I honestly have missed it. Things are filling back up again, and I am excited to write down some tasks and to-do lists in my bright pink planner. (I am strange, I know!)
I am a huge fan of finding quotes or writing in random places, inspirational and kind of course (such as the last photograph above). Back when I was in high school, a friend and I would write random things on street corners and parks in hope to brighten others days. It always makes my day when I find these little things.
