southern cross

(a few vintage photographs I found today for a few cents.)

(rings: oasap/h&m, everything else is either vintage or thrifted)

Ah, the past few summer days have been full of clear schedules, possibility of many new changes, and starts of summer classes. Both of my summer courses involve art, so I am actually not dreading the fact of taking them... and I heard there will be many field trips, which has brightened the idea. I am also currently house/dog sitting, and a change of scenery is always invited by me.
I am realizing what an avid thrifter I am lately. I am also realizing the more picky I am getting with most of my purchases (the price and the quality.. and if I actually need it). For the past while, I have usually been spending $5 or less at a thrift store, and my secret is just going to the locally owned and looking for the "sale" signs hanging in the door. Today, I walked out of a husband and wife thrift store with two quality shirts and vintage photographs with just the change in my pocket. Readers, what are some of your advice for thrifting?

  3. Love the collar on your blouse, very cute.
We don't really have thrift stores in the UK but we do have charity shops, all the money raises funds for the charity so I don't mind spending a bit more, particularly if its a charity I would usually support. That said I think often the ones where I've found the nicest things are for the local charities such as hospices or shelters. I'm quite picky too, I tend to only like things in natural fabrics such as cotton, wool or silk, but I have bought some old poly dresses that I love

  17. I am the same way when thrifting... maybe a little too thrifty. :P always check for stains and tears.

I love that top, and your lifestyle seems so healthy! your posts about home made foods and drinks are inspiring to me, as I am trying to be healthier lately. It is disturbing what is in some of the foods out there!
